In 2003 HSBC bought Polski Kredyt Bank, which officially changed its name to HSBC Bank Polska S.A.in 2004 (now HSBC Continental Europe (Spółka Akcyjna) Oddział w Polsce). In 2007 it set up a back office which has developed over time into a global service centre which now employs nearly 6,000 people.
